How to flush toxins and give your body a healthy, natural boost!

Ever heard of spring cleaning for your body? This was a first for me too! As you probably know, excercise is great for increasing bood flow by working your muscles. This then stimulates lymph flow. This is vital to your body as the lymphatic system helps in the safe transport of waste from your body. Keep your lymphatic system finely tuned and your whole body looks and feels better. Try these few simple excercises once a day for 2 weeks and you will give your body the jump start it deserves.

1. - Standing Twist

What it does - By means of raising your body temperature, your lymph system will be stimulated to release toxins. Visualize yourself wringing the toxins out of your digestive tract.

How to do it - Start in a runner's lunge. Be sure your right leg is at a 90 degree angle. Your left leg should be extended straight behind you while your hands simply rest at either side of your foot. Now lower your left knee to the floor. Gradually bring your hands up to the prayer position - palms touching. Slowly inhale. Slowly exhale and rotate your upper torso so that your left elbow touches the ouside edge of your right knee. Remain in this position for 5 breaths. Now repeat on the other side.

2 - Seated Tree

What it does - This will increase the circulation round your abdomen. The result is washing away waste and revitalizing your organs.

How to do it - Sit on the floor with your legs stretched straight in front of you. Bend your left knee and bring the sole of your left foot to your right inner thigh. Let your left knee drop to the floor. Reach forward with your left hand and grab hold of your right foot or shin. Twist your torso towards your right leg. Hold this position for 5 to 10 deep breaths. Switch legs and repeat.

3 - Legs Up the Wall

What it does - This excercise will encourage the drainage of blood and lymphatic fluid from your feet and legs. This fluid will drain into your abdomen where the toxins can more easily be cleaned from your system. It will give your circulatory system a rest and will nourish your digestive organs. You will experience overall increase in energy and function.

How to do it - Sit with your knees bent. Your feet should be flat on the floor and your right hip and shoulder touching the wall. Slowly roll onto your back while swinging your legs up onto the wall. Scoot your butt as close to the wall as you find comfortable. You can rest your arms at your sides, on your tummy or above your head. Do this for 2 minutes.

Other Daily Detoxers

A cleansing soak - Take a soothing 20 minute soak in this theraputic bath once a week. This will help release toxins, reduce stress and balance pH levels in your body. Supplies:

  • handful of epsom salts
  • 10 drops of lavendard essential oil
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • tub full of hot water

Water with lemon - Start each day with a glass of room temperature water with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. This helps flush toxins and stimulate digestion. Go hot and cold - Conclude your morning shower by alternating the water temperature between as hot and as cold as you can stand. Regular Excercise - Try to do at least 30 minutes per day of activity that gets your heart rate up and produces a nice sheen of sweat.
